“Other Than Honorable”
Saturday, December 5, 2020
5pm.
A musical stage play based on the true story of Conley F. Monk, Jr, a local Vietnam Veteran who has recently made international news because of his efforts to acquire rights for Vietnam Veterans suffering with PTSD. “I left New Haven to avoid peer pressure and to do something that would make my parents proud. Following in my father’s foot steps, I enlisted in the military to serve my country, and became a Marine. My “welcome home” from Vietnam was a shock and a disappointment! I volunteered and fought for my country, yet I couldn’t get my job back at the VA! As a matter of fact, finding work was next to impossible anywhere because I was discharged from service with an Other Than Honorable discharge. If they only knew what war does to a person! This can’t stand. I have to fight, not just for myself, but for every veteran who came home dishonored, rejected, and forgotten.”
